Olga Kurylenko

Olga Kurylenko crystal bra

Olga Kurylenko in a crystal bra.

Olga Kurylenko has been working as a model in Paris for over a decade. She has appeared in magazines like Marie Claire, Vogue, and Elle, and has done advertising campaigns for Bebe, Helena Rubinstein, L'Etincelle, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, and Clarins cosmetics.

Olga Kurylenko is also well-known for her work as a lingerie model. She has worn skimpy lace and silk for lingerie brands like Yamamay, Evelyn, Lejaby, and Bisou Bisou.

Despite Olga Kurylenko's height (5'9.5") and slim figure (34.5 bust-23.5 waist-35 hips) she has rarely walked the ramp. Apart from disrobing down to her underwear for lingerie brands, Olga has also gone completely starkers in her modeling career.

Olga Kurylenko personal relationships

Some of Olga Kurylenko's attitude towards nudity stems from her upbringing. "My mother is an artist and she taught me that the body is something beautiful. I’d see her painting naked models growing up. She is also a teacher, she taught my class at school and when she showed us nude sculptures, everybody in the class laughed and I was the only one who didn’t, because she always taught me there was nothing to laugh at."

Olga enjoys a close relationship with her mother Marina, who separated from Olga's father when she was little. Kurylenko met her father when she was 13 and describes the meeting, "It was, you know, nice... We just... spoke. I mean, you know, I know he is my dad. But he didn't bring me up. He's like an acquaintance to me."

Kurylenko says "In Ukraine everyone wears bright colors"

Olga Kurylenko's father is Ukrainian and mother Russian. She was born in the Ukrainian town of Berdyansk on November 14, 1979. Olga was brought up by her mother (in Moscow) and grandmother (in Berdyansk)....while traveling with her mother in Moscow Olga was spotted by a modeling scout at age 13. Luckily for her, this was also the period when the Ukraine became an independent country and Russia embraced capitalism, opening up the modeling scene. However Kurylenko was always chaperoned by her mother to castings.

Even today mother and daughter text each other daily and talk at least once a week and, thanks to Olga's success as a model and actress, she has bought her mother gifts that have included a house and a car. "She deserves it because she did so much for me," Kurylenko says. "I maybe missed money in my childhood, but I didn't miss love, that's for sure."

The absence of a father figure has made Olga Kurylenko fiercely independent. In 2000 she married a French fashion photographer Cedric Van Mol, but broke up with him in 2003. "He was a good friend so we never fought but you know how it is - at some point it just gets so comfortable - the person becomes more of your brother."

Then in 2006 Olga hooked up with American businessman Damien Gabrielle and married him in a lavish wedding in Spain. "It was great," Kurylenko remembers. "It was the best wedding in the world, actually. You know, I'm very happy to have done it because my first wedding was very small. I think it's a very American thing to have a huge wedding and I'm thinking now, it's great, I've done it - and it was the best party of my life!"

Kurylenko had actually been reluctant to go through with the wedding because of her previous experience. And predictably this second time wasn't a charm either: "We just didn't click at all. And he was very jealous and I can't stand jealousy. So I had to go."

Olga Kurylenko actress

Olga Kurylenko is not just a model, she also has a talent for acting. In fact this talent is good enough for Olga to make acting her main career now, which is what she had trained for in school before she became a model! "Once I started taking acting classes as a kid, it really changed me," says Kurylenko, who is also trained in ballet and piano.

In 1996 Olga Kurylenko signed up with a French modeling agency and moved to Paris. However she says that it was acting that she really wanted to do: "I looked for acting classes in Paris just to do something different than modeling. And then one day I just thought okay, that’s enough, I have to start doing something. I went to the acting agency and I just told them I wanted to act and asked them if they would give me a chance and they did."

But getting into acting was not so simple as that.....she continued to make a living through modeling. It was several years and many rejections before Olga managed to get a significant role in 2005 with the French movie L'Annulaire (The Ring Finger). The next year she was in Le Serpent and the year after that in the English movie Hitman. Olga also got roles in TV movies.

Apart from being nude, Olga Kurylenko was noticed for her acting in all her films, even those which didn't do well commercially. She received the certificate of excellence award at the 2006 Brooklyn International Film Festival for her performance in L'Annulaire. With Hitman she gained international recognition, and auditioned for the 22nd James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace in 2007.

They say Ukranian girls are cold, and I'm not. I'm more of a Latina type. I had a Spanish friend, who used to tell me I gesticulate and speak like a Spanish person. I was probably a flamenco dancer in my last life.

Olga says, "I had never taken part in any action scenes. So, I went to London, arrived there and met right away with the stunt coordinator." She began doing weapons training and body flight training for aerial scenes (despite her fear of heights) and stunt work for fighting. "It’s been so physical, my body has never felt so sore. There have been times when I’ve literally hurt everywhere."

While Quantum of Solace was still being made, Olga got an offer to do a small role in the Mark Wahlberg action flick Max Payne:

Olga, Mark, and Amaury Nolasco from Prison Break

In Max Payne Olga played the sister of Mila Kunis, who incidentally is also from the Ukraine! And like Mila, Olga is also multi-lingual, speaking Russian, Ukrainian, French, and English. She is now planning to learn Spanish.

In the driver's seat of the new Ford-Ka. Contrary to expectations Daniel Craig did not get to bed this tough Bond girl!

Olga will be seen next in the political thriller Tyranny and Kirot, another thriller where she has the lead, shot in Israel by Danny Lerner. Kirot is Hebrew for Walls, in which Olga is a prostitute turned hit woman who teams up with Ninet Tayeb, an Israeli pop star and TV performer making her movie debut.

Despite her recent fame and success, Olga has the long experience of struggling as a model and actress to keep her grounded. When first picked to be a Bond girl, Olga was described as an "unknown Ukrainian model". So now Kurylenko says, "Today people are interested, tomorrow they aren't. You can struggle for years and all that people say is Oh, all she does is crap and then with one role those same people are going Oh my God, you’re a genius. I have to keep working."

While starting out as a magazine model in 2001 Yoon So-Yi had promised herself that if by age 30 she was still only doing modeling, she would call it quits. But luckily So-Yi got a break in TV adverts, called Commercial Films (CFs) in South Korea, her most popular one being for Samsung Anycall.

Yoon So-Yi charity

Don't be fooled by that innocent face and sweet smile, South Korean Yoon So-Yi is a kick-ass action star! She was in the 2005 martial arts epic Shadowless Sword, with her character as a beautiful young swords woman:

While Shadowless Sword was set in ancient China, Yoon was in another martial arts film Arahan, which was set in modern South Korea. Arahan was based on a popular South Korean comic, and explored the consequences of unleashing an ancient evil spirit into a modern city. So-Yi is part of a hidden school of ancient masters who train a naive young policeman to fight this evil force:

When she's not doing action movies, Yoon So-Yi is a star on Korean TV dramas, like the now running City of Glass on SBS. So-Yi has been appreciated for her roles in earlier TV shows like Goodbye Solo and Say You Love Me.

Yoon So-Yi says she's not much of a fan of watching dramas herself, and never goes to the theater. She's got a bubbly personality and doesn't like to cry, which is why she prefers curling up to watch mindless action flicks and tense thrillers.

But Yoon did cry at the funeral of iconic Korean actress Choi Jin-sil, who committed suicide early this month, a tragedy which shook South Korea and neighboring nations where Choi was very popular.

Yoon So-Yi is very active in charity and relief work. The photo above is of Yoon at W Magazine's "Love Your W" gala event, held in October last year to promote breast cancer awareness. JTS, a Seoul-based Buddhist international relief agency, is close to her heart. It uses donations to eradicate famine, disease and illiteracy through various projects and programs, around the world. So-Yi herself is a Buddhist.

In June this year, the National Center for Missing Children co-sponsored a Green Ribbon for Hope Campaign. The participants gathered at the Cheonggye Plaza for the program, where Yoon and another actress Go Ara gave speeches and then joined in a walkathon.

Yoon So-Yi (right) and fellow actress Go Ara begin the walkathon

So-Yi was quoted as saying that she was "deeply honored" to be part of the event, that she was "glad to be there", and that 15,000 cases of missing children a year "is unfortunate, but can be prevented" which is why she urged for "more aggressive social attention and care" towards this issue.

Sexy vegetarian

Sexy Alicia Mayer wants men to stop eating meat and go vegetarian. The actress and model from the Philippines is part of a worldwide PETA campaign that says meat is responsible for erectile dysfunction in men!

GMA News

Impotence, or erectile dysfunction, affects millions of men worldwide, PETA says. Citing one study, the group says about as many as half of men over the age of 40 in the US are impotent at least part of the time.

PETA says it's not so much psychological as physical in most cases – 90 percent of cases are physical, according to the Erectile Dysfunction Institute. PETA says that meat, with its high cholesterol, blocks the flow of blood not just to the heart but to other major organs as well.

"High cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancer and inflammation, and hormonal imbalances cause the vast majority of all cases of impotence," PETA says. "The good news is that medical science has proved that all these conditions can be virtually eliminated with a low-fat vegan diet."

"Eating Meat Got You Down? Get It Up! Go Vegetarian." Or as sexy actress and model Alicia Mayer suggests in a Vargas-style pinup poster taken by Raymund Isaac: A banana is better than Viagra.

"Viagra might get you through the night, but a healthy vegetarian diet can get you through your life," Mayer says in a statement issued by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). "A man who stuffs his belly full of dead pig flesh in the kitchen might end up delivering dead wood in the bedroom."

Alicia Mayer vegetarian

Mayer, a GMA Kapuso talent, "donated her body" to the cause, as the PETA statement put it, adding: "Mayer and PETA Asia-Pacific want to remind men that while swallowing pills to overcome impotence might be a short-term fix, kicking the ugly meat habit – which clogs the arteries to all a man's organs – is the best way to restore solid results to a lackluster love life."

Citing physicians and nutritionists, PETA suggests a diet that could prevent artery blockage. It should be a diet high in fiber, with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. These foods scrape the plaque off the arterial walls to get your blood flowing

Meagan Good

Meagan Good believes in God.

The gorgeous 27-year old has never said so explicitly, but she has implied in some interviews that she is a virgin. "Me and the person I'm dating believe in being celibate," Meagan Good told isavoymag in 2003. Meagan helps organize Bible study classes at her LA church and volunteers for drug awareness programs. "I'm a very spiritual person. I just want to live my life according to God's will and make Him proud of me."

When I do photo shoots for men’s magazines, I don’t do lingerie, I don’t do skimpy bikinis

In an interview with Stumped Magazine Meagan Good explained her religious beliefs: "I'm a Christian, but not a religious Christian. I'm just very spiritual. I have my belief system and anything I feel would be disappointing to God I don't do. But, it has to be my personal feeling not someone else's or my pastor's or my mom's. If I feel that it's going to be disappointing to him, I won't do it."

Meagan Good body

Meagan Good is 5'5"....her body is the racial blend of African American, Puerto Rican, French and Cherokee Indian genes. Meagan has been seen in the music videos of Will Smith and 50 Cent; leading to her being labeled a vixen.

Meagan Good says, "I don’t see myself doing a music video for a long time. I have offers but at this point in my life I don’t want people to only look at me as a sex kitten." Meagan was an actress from an early age appearing on several TV shows and films until her award-winning performance in Eve's Bayou (1997). She got her own starring TV show Just One of the Girls, which was eventually canceled.

After doing more roles in TV Meagan had another breakout performance in the 2004 dance movie You Got Served. Because of her height and fit dancer's body Good kept playing teen girl parts on TV and film. At age 24 Meagan portrayed a 16-year old girl in Roll Bounce.

DEBSThe cast of D.E.B.S. Meagan Good, Devon Aoki, Jill Ritchie, Sara Foster, and Jordana Brewster

The 2004 movie D.E.B.S. was a fun movie about beautiful girls being trained for spy work; it also explored a lesbian relationship between Sara Foster and Jordana Brewster. But D.E.B.S. did not receive much notice because its release was restricted to 45 theaters.

Talking about her experience in this unusual film, using guns and wearing Catholic schoolgirl uniforms, Meagan Good says, "Just the whole aspect of the stunts that we had to learn and shooting the guns, and just the action in the movie and the outfits, the camaraderie, it just was a good experience overall......I had the little briefs underneath also, so it was okay."

Meagan Good producer

Meagan Good formed her own production company, Freedom Bridge Entertainment; in 2006 she produced and starred in Miles From Home. The movie got critical reviews and won several awards at the Pan African Film & Arts Festival. Meagan appeared in another dance movie, Stomp the Yard, and an action-thriller Waist Deep. In 2007 Meagan Good began filming her new independent film, Sundays In Fort Green. The movie centers around two sisters desperately trying not to end up like their drug addicted mother. Meagan portrays a lesbian struggling to find the best way to come out to her family.

Meagan Good says about her fashion sense, "I love jeans. I love hippy stuff like thin t-shirts, scarves, flip flops. Love hats. That's my number one. I always wear hats."

One of Meagan's admitted bad habits is smoking. "I will smoke in front of people but now I don't have the same kind of attitude about it," Good admitted to Unleashed Magazine. Among her peers she admires Britney Spears and Charlize Theron. "When I was younger I didn't really have anyone particularly that I looked up to. Now I really like Charlize Theron, I really look up to her, all her choices, she's just amazing."

Meagan Good continues experimenting with her movie roles, appearing in the Mike Myers comedy The Love Guru, and later this week in the horror flick Saw V. Next year Meagan Good will be seen in another horror movie The Unborn, which stars Gary Oldman and Odette Yustman.

Megan Good has been in a year-long relationship with New York Jets running back Thomas Jones.

Madagascar wildlife study

An international team of researchers has developed a remarkable new roadmap for finding and protecting the best remaining holdouts for thousands of rare species that live only in Madagascar, considered one of the most significant biodiversity hot spots in the world.

Science Daily

In their conservation plan, the researchers, led by conservation biologists at the University of California, Berkeley, not only included lemurs - those large-eyed, tree-hopping primates that have become poster children for conservation - but also species of ants, butterflies, frogs, geckos and plants.

Altogether, more than 2,300 species found only in the vast area of Madagascar - a 226,642-square-mile (587,000-square-kilometer) island nation in the Indian Ocean - were included in the analysis. Centralizing and analyzing the sheer quantity of data available to develop a map of conservation priorities provided an unprecedented analytical challenge.

The team's work demonstrates that relying on a single group of species for a conservation plan does not provide adequate protection for other species groups. "Conservation planning has historically focused on protecting one species or one group of species at a time, but in our race to beat species extinction, that one-taxon approach is not going to be quick enough," says Claire Kremen, UC Berkeley assistant professor of conservation biology and the project's co-lead researcher.

Madagascar is an island nation located about 200 miles off the coast of eastern Africa. Because is has been isolated from other land masses for over 160 million years, the country contains an extremely high number of endemic species--plants and animals that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. Nearly 13,000 species of plants and vertebrate animals are found exclusively on Madagascar, including over 90 percent of the island's reptiles, amphibians, and mammals.

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes lovable

Lovable Amanda Bynes.

Amanda Bynes with her equally lovable dog Charlie, of the Cavalier King Spaniel breed. Amanda Bynes certainly loves dogs since before this she had a Blenheim Cavalier named Midge. As a teen star living at home, Amanda owned a golden lab named Tootsie and a mixed Australian shepherd named Betty.

Amanda and Midge

Amanda Bynes physical comedy

"I really don't think being funny is something that you can learn," says Amanda Bynes. "I think it’s just sort of innate."

Amanda loved watching sitcoms like I Love Lucy, Full House, and Family Matters, and she’s a huge fan of slapstick humor; movies like Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and her favorite Dumb and Dumber which she's seen 40 times. And Jim Carrey is her comedy hero. "The first time I watched Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and he stuck his head out the window, that just rocked my world."

Amanda's father Rick, a longtime fan of stand-up comedy, signed up her and her sister for a comedy camp every Saturday at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. He also helped her write jokes for her act at the Laugh Factory, which nurtured her future comedic talents. This talent for comedy were seen in her long-running Nickelodeon series, The Amanda Show, and in the 2006 sex-switch comedy about boys, girls and soccer, She's the Man:
(L to R) Robert Hoffman, Laura Ramsey, Amanda Bynes, Channing Tatum, and Alex Breckenridge
"Amanda is truly one of the best actresses of our age group. As a kid I watched her on Nickelodeon and she always blew me away. After acting with Amanda, I'm not afraid to do comedy," says her gorgeous co-star Channing Tatum. Amanda's turns as a short-haired boy were funny to watch with the exaggerated male mannerisms like grabbing the crotch and spitting. She's the Man was timed for release to coincide with the 2006 Soccer World Cup.

Amanda's comedic, and stand-up impressions, talents were also showcased in the 2002 teen comedy Big Fat Liar with Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz. Frankie had then predicted, "Amanda is so great at physical humor. She'll be a long-term star."

Amanda did sketches and slapstick comedy routines in her long-running The Amanda Show on Nickelodeon. Among her other comedic turns were in Lovewrecked, What a Girl Wants, Sydney White, and another TV show What I Like About You.
Sara Paxton (L) is president of Amanda Bynes' sorority in Sydney White
"I'm only 19 and I still like these kinds of movies. I don't want to grow up so fast because then you're an adult for the rest of your life. When I'm 25, then it will definitely be time to play more serious roles," Amanda Bynes said this in 2006. She has a part in the upcoming Living Proof, a biopic about Dr. Dennis Slamon, who spent his career in the fight against Breast Cancer. Amanda plays a liberal arts major who becomes his research assistant.

Amanda Bynes personal

While her father is a dentist and brother Tommy is a chiropractor, Amanda Bynes says, "I’m definitely not a science major." And Amanda is very attached to her family. "As soon as I leave, for, like, several hours afterward, it’s almost as if my soul has been ripped from my body," she says. "So I’ll call my sister Jillian or my mom and dad. I will literally just talk to them and get it all out of my system. Then I’ll feel better, back to myself. If I didn’t have my parents, I’d lose sight of myself."

Amanda Bynes pretty

Bynes was born (April 3, 1986) and raised in Thousand Oaks, California. Although she graduated high school (Thousand Oaks High) in 2004, Bynes says, "I grew up with terrible acne and feeling insecure. I was tall and skinny. I didn't feel pretty at all, and guys didn't even like me. That's why I got into comedy."

But Amanda Bynes did have relationships with hot guys. She dated Taran Killam, her costar on The Amanda Show for two years, and then Nick Zano, her costar on What I Like About You. "I learned so much from both relationships. Both of them helped me to get to where I am today," says Amanda who is open about her love life. Currently she is rumored to be seeing Seth MacFarlane of the Family Guy; they met when Amanda did the final episode of that show.

"Way too many girls think they aren’t good enough, and they end up losing their virginity to gross guys," Amanda told CosmoGirl. Her advice? "Know how good you are. Be more sure of yourself. I think a lot of girls don’t realize until they’re older, like, Wow, I wasn't that bad."

Though she starred in a soccer movie, Amanda was not into sports. "I don't really like to play them, but they're fine to watch."

Amanda Bynes image

And despite her disinterest in sport, Amanda Bynes walks to stay fit. She also likes to wear Spanx body-shaping underwear. But Amanda's not concerned about her looks or getting plastic surgery, "I think women look better and better as they get older, but there is some pressure on them to look a certain way. I personally think we should grow old gracefully. Like, my mum has great hair and it’s beautiful. It looks natural."

Amanda Bynes diamonds

Amanda Bynes was born the same year as Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. The three teen stars have had parallel careers, and constant comparisons. Some people have remarked that Amanda's relatively low profile and good girl image compared to the other two's more sexualized images, may have given her more modest success. But it has given her the label of a role model for girls. As Amanda told CosmoGirl's Deborah Baer, "I like to go dance and let off steam. But I won’t do things that I would be ashamed for my mom to see."

This is why Amanda rarely goes to clubs. "I don't like to drink. I have definitely stayed out of the party scene. I've been offered to go to those parties, but I feel like I would be the one who would die if I did something," she said.

Amanda Bynes milk

In 2007 Amanda Bynes joined the new 'Body by Milk' campaign created to encourage teens to be active and drink 3 glasses of lowfat or fat free milk everyday to stay healthy. Bynes claims that she vomits every time she tries drinking alcohol. She prefers the sugar-free energy drink Red Bull.

Amanda Bynes blonde

Amanda turned blonde recently. She also acted in her first musical Hairspray where she portrayed a '50s girl falling in love with an African-American character. Although she hasn't gone to college Bynes says, "I definitely will at some point in my life will go to college, I love and am fascinated by psychology, so that's something that I'd like to learn more about."

While being a good role model, Amanda herself looks up to some of her peers. "I love Natalie Portman. She seems like she still has values. And Kelly Clarkson seems like the kind of girl who’d rather be at Denny’s with a group of friends than at a club."
This is not Amanda's car but a photoshoot by Viki Forshee for Elle Magazine

"I like driving. It's preferred to not being behind the wheel. I've wanted to drive since I was little, so getting my license was important to me. I wanted a BMW convertible, but my parents made me get a Honda Accord," she says. But Amanda Bynes loves BMW, since she got herself a 2005 BMW X5 and now drives a 2008 model of the same car. (2012 update: Amanda Bynes car accident arrest)

Amanda Bynes loves to draw and design clothes for fun. In 2007 she officially introduced her apparel and accessory line, Dear, in New York at Steve&Barry's, a casual retailer. "I wanted a clothing line that made affordable fashionable, because it is really hard when you're in school and maybe your parents can't afford or won't let you get the expensive clothes and you still want to be wearing the hip thing. I think that it's now hip to have affordable clothes," Bynes told The ShowBuzz.
